Today’s tip will help you create the best atmosphere on the dance floor after your 1st dance, so I want to get straight to the point so you can already implement it in your plan.
Even if you already have a DJ booked or you were just planning on playing some music from Spotify or iTunes on your iPod. Maybe you even have a friend who said that they can play the music for you.
It’s all very well having an extreme or unusual genre of music that you like and of course, it is your wedding day, so it only seems right that you play the music that you like.
However, it is also essential to have songs that your guests enjoy and like to dance to as well.
You don’t want an empty dance floor on your wedding and you certainly don’t want to have to ask your guests to get up and dance. That puts pressure on them and creates that awkward dancing which includes a shuffle sideways closer to the bar to escape.
So what is the best way to find out what songs your guests would like to dance to?
Create an on-line survey to ask your guests what songs they would like to hear.
It’s easy to set up! All you have to do is go over to one of the free and popular survey websites, like SurveyMonkey.com and create a free survey which you can then send to your guests. You can add as little or as many questions you want, but make sure that you include this one: ‘Which is your favourite song to dance to?’
The benefit to using sites like SurveyMonkey.com is that it is free, you can e-mail, share on your wedding Facebook event or tweet the link to the survey to your guests. Since you are using an on-line tool you are going to get a quicker and better response rate than just sending an email.
After a few days, you can then log back into SurveyMonkey and pull off a report to see all the songs that your wedding guests have said they would like to hear.
Of course, you could e-mail this straight to your DJ, friend or to whoever is arranging the music for you.
Getting input directly from your guests insures that there is a wide range of music available for your guests to be entertained, plus it saves the guess work of hoping that your DJ has the right mix.
Your guests will be shouting on the dance floor to each other, “That’s my song. That’s my choice!” And that truly is the best feeling to see your guests having a blast on the dance floor (even your drunk uncle).
